An online Version of Sword Art Online Variant Showdown Will Available When The Smartphone Game Ends Service.
Sword Art Online Variant Showdown smartphone game will end service globally on October 30. An official statement from SAOSV official website says it would be difficult to continue providing a satisfying player experience despite daily efforts to improve service quality since its launch in 2022.
However, Bandai Namco Entertainment will release an Offline Edition of Sword Art Online Variant Showdown when it ends service globally. The offline version of the game will still preserve part of players’ data and some features. In addition, a finale campaign with limited-time events and Scouts will launch before the game ends service.

We are very saddened to announce that service for Sword Art Online Variant Showdown (SAOVS) will be discontinued on 10/30/2025 (Wednesday). Despite daily efforts to improve service quality since its launch on 11/24/2022, we ultimately decided to discontinue the service after concluding that it would be difficult to continue providing a satisfying player experience. Once again, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the app over the years, along with our sincere apologies for this unfortunate outcome.

About the Upcoming Schedule
In addition to running a finale campaign to allow everyone to enjoy the game right up to the end, we will also be introducing an Offline Edition that can be played offline following the end of service.

Following maintenance on 8/29/2025, we will be launching a variety of in-app events and campaigns as way of saying thanks and keeping the fun going up until the very end.

Scouts ・Event Scouts Event Scouts that utilize tickets earned in the events. ・Festival Scout A Scout featuring all characters and ability cards that have appeared up to this point.

Downloading the Offline Edition
After service is discontinued following maintenance on 10/30/2025 (Thursday), we will offer an Offline Edition that preserves a portion of everyone’s play data, making it possible to continue enjoying certain features like battles.
How to Migrate to the Offline Edition
The Offline Edition of the app (Ver 3.0.0) will be released at the same time as online service concludes. You can migrate to the Offline Edition by updating to Ver 3.0.0.
After updating to the Offline Edition, launch the game to begin the migration process. Follow the instructions and download the required data, and your migration to the Offline Edition will be complete.
Note: In order to play the Offline Edition of the game, please complete migration by 03:00 UTC on 1/29/2026 (Thursday). Note: In order to migrate to the Offline Edition of the game, you will need to have completed the tutorial by the final day online service (04:00 UTC on 10/30/2025 (Thursday)).
Transferring Game Data
The deadline for transferring data to the Offline Edition will be 1/29/2026 (Thursday) 03:00 (UTC). After that time, it will no longer be possible to transfer your game data. Linking your account to a Bandai Namco ID allows you to transfer your game data to another device using the same OS.
Please also note that future OS updates may cause the game to no longer run.

Main QuestsAll quests released after the period of extended maintenance ended on 12/17/2024 will be unlocked.Note: There will be no clear rewards.
Unlimited DungeonA selection of floors from 50F to 500F of the Unlimited Dungeon will be available to play. Points for allotting on the Growth Board will also be set to the maximum amount from the beginning to allow you to enjoy it as you please.Note: There will be no clear rewards.
Takedown BattlesYou will be able to play all Solo and Multi Quests released up to this point.Note: You will not be able to play online with other players. Note: There will be no clear rewards.
Battle RoyalYou will be able to play free matches against the CPU.
StoriesThe following stories released after the period of extended maintenance ended on 12/17/2024 will be available to enjoy. ・Main Story ・Side Stories ・Extra Stories
Character InteractionsAll features of Character Interactions will be unlocked, allowing you to enjoy character-unique stories and voices.
ScoutsA Scout with all previous characters and ability cards will be created. This will allow you to enjoy the Scout and SSR character cutscenes.Note: You will not be able to actually obtain characters or ability cards from this Scout.
Thank-You CreditsThe player names of all players who have logged in before 8/29/2025 will be viewable as credits in the Offline Edition.Note: Eligible for users with either XR 2 or higher, or Player Level 2 or higher.
Profile & GalleryYou will be able to freely change the Title and Background of your profile as before. All previous characters will be unlocked in the Gallery.
Closed Features
The following features will be closed and unavailable for use.
The app data after migrating to the Offline Edition will require approximately 6 GB of storage. Please ensure that you have enough free storage space on your smartphone. A wi-fi connection is recommended when migrating to the Offline Edition.

All players of SAOVS will receive a gift of items usable in SAOIF. More details on which items will be obtainable in SAOIF and how to link apps will be announced at a later date.
